Day 3: School Crafts, Woodworking, and Providing Meals to a New Neighborhood

Good evening!  Today was a very busy day for all three groups of us!

Starting off with breakfast.

A group of us went with Megan and picked up some supplies.  We were going to be making food for a new neighborhood for the first time.

These eggs don't need to be refrigerated. Apparently that happens when they are fresh!

I was digging this cool little shopping cart!

Views on the way to the new site!

This little building has an area that will serve as a dining room, a small storage room, and a room on the back that will be the kitchen.

The stove in the kitchen.

The other side of the kitchen.

Cleaning out ash and prepping the stove to cook on.

Making fire!

We were expecting 40-60 kids around noon.
Almost 80 showed up at 10:30! Thankfully, they were very patient and we were able to feed them all. And their five teachers!

Handing out vitamins before food.

Another group went back to the school and did some crafting with the kids.

Decorating wooden crosses!

Some decorated themselves.

The third group went to pick up some supplies for the wood shop.

I don't think the frog is wearing the proper safety gear.

After going over safety procedures, the group taught the kids how various power tools work and their uses.

Javier is always helping with something!

On the way to the evening "Boom" service!

We sang a couple of songs with the kids. We prayed with them. We did a message about Jesus being the common thread between us regardless of any of our other differences.

Dinner!

Tonight, in what I'm told was an unprecedented turn of events, four Bueno bars were awarded! Karen, Chris, and I received them for being the pioneer team on the new site! Cathy received one for her carpentry skills!

Well, it's been a long day. Very good, but long. I will continue with another post tomorrow. Buenos noches, Amigos!
